Title: Taco Time!
Post by: TimK on Feb 24, 2021, 10:05 PM
Finally got some good enough weather to venture out the house and the crappie spot did not disappoint.   Found a herd of em pretty fast and cherry picked the upper portion of the school so they didnt blow up reeling em out of 24-34FOW.  Released at least 15 or 20 and kept a few of the choicest pieces.   Not bad for 2hrs ;D

Maybe only an hour and a half if you take out the time I spent chatting with the park ranger.  I tried to take a pic of the flasher screen but it wouldnt come out.   Thick like buffalo on the prairie. ;D. They were streaking up the water column for the gold P.

That one on the lower right looks like an old warrior.  Nice set of slabs.

Nice that you don't have to travel 6 hrs to find them.

Its the only place I fish in this state that seems to be on the rise rather than decline.  Healthy crappie population and a lot of people keeping limits this year so hopeful average size continues to go up! Average size this year is noticably larger than last season.  Now if we could just get rid of all the coal fired plants in the area (yea I said it!) so I can safely eat more than a few tacos a month!  These crappies have 3-4x as much mercury as your average piece of tuna from the store.
