Title: Rockport Feb 22, 2021
Post by: dubob on Feb 24, 2021, 11:04 AM
We came; we saw; we caught; we are Happy, Happy, Happy!  😁

Arrived at 8 AM to a calm 28*F.  JJANNIE (Jill & Jeff) were there as well along with another SnowDog owner and his bride of 2 years (they are both almost 80 😊).  We conferenced and then headed out to the killing grounds.  First of my 59 perch hit the ice in less than a minute after dropping the invite down.  I immediately said to myself: “SELF; this is gonna be a good day!”

Big Earl and I proceeded to battle it out for the lead – back & forth; forth & back.  We finally called it FINI about 1:30 PM.  As I mentioned, my take for the day was 59 perch.  Big Earl was just under 50 with a couple of bows thrown in for good measure.  The wind was ALMOST not there, and the sun warmed these old bodies up nicely.  Ice is still 12” plus and there is a couple inches (4 or 5) of snow on top.  Maybe a thin layer of slush here and there.  This was one of those glorious days to be out and about communing with nature.

And now, kindly have your children leave the room as its time for the fish porn.

Very nice day to be out that's for sure Bob. I have yet to have one of those this year. We're going to start heading to the berry this Friday for a day trip and then if the weather cooperates we'll be doing a camp trip the next weekend.

I hope the Berry treats all y'all better than the Gorge has this year.  It looks like the Berry isn't in the cards for me this year.   :(  I will have to live it through your posts.

Looks like you slayed 'em for sure Bob. Nice haul of fatties. Sounds like that SnowDog is treating you right, judging by the lack of any negative comments. I've been telling myself to get one for a couple of years, maybe this fall. Hope you men get some more good days in over there, it's winding down here in CT.

We may be done here in a week or so as the 10 day forecast for northern Utah is showing daytime high temps up into the 60s.  Our reservoirs start filling up from the run-off when it gets that warm and the edges get wide water gaps preventing machine access to the good ice.  Long planks will gain access for foot traffic, but I can no longer make those long portages to the good spots on foot.   :(

PS: I sent you a PM.
