Bathymetric software for alaska
« on: Dec 19, 2012, 02:01 PM »
Does anyone know of a software for a gps or for any computer that has bathymetric maps for alaska. The software that I have tried all failed miserably for alaska, and the bathymetric maps from the state have been a FUBAR'D. They are too basic no detail and have been wrong frequently when running the vex to verify depths.

I looked for decent maps a couple years ago. Where I go, they are somewhat decent, but are wrong too many times. They fail to have any hazards marked, don't account for years of wave action changing depth and sometimes are off more than you can imagine.

I make mental notes while out in the boat and make changes to my maps.

As far as I know from contacting Garmin and others, no one has had the opportunity to get to Alaska concerning our water system.

The only charts I have found are the ones I have placed on here that were obtained from the state website.

If anyone does find some computerized it would be awesome to upload to cell phone or a fish finder.

Tight Lines and Merry Christmas!

Navionics has begun loading bathymetric data into their cellphone app.  It's the ADF&G data, but at least you can take it with you.

Thank your lucky stars that you at least have those state ones.
Where I live only 2 of the 10 billion lakes have basic maps the rest you have to map yourself.
