what does "Mr. Buddy" cook for you?
« on: Dec 01, 2010, 10:24 PM »
I am looking for some type of way to cook off a mr. buddy heater. i was thinking of making some sort of grill top to use. i want it to be durable and packable.

maybe a paint roller screen used in a 5 gallon bucket would work if bent to fit the buddy heater heat guard?

anyone attempt this yet?

i use to wrap hot dogs and braughts in alumin foil and lay them on the top.worked great but once in a while grease would drip through the foil and onto the heater.i then made a fork type rack that would mount to the front.will post some pic when i download them from my old computer.

I cook hotdogs on metal rods I bent to hang on the front of the heater.

My camera is Kaput so I don't have a picture but I have a small round grill that I have stuck between the handle and the top of the heater and is anchored at the top back of the heater.  It works with a small pot for soup, coffee or hot cocoa.

I posted this last year, but will go over it again.  I just bent a coathanger around the top two screen wires on the buddy heater and left four points sticking up.  Cooks two hot dogs at a time.  Each dog is held up by two points.  Homemade or butcher made dogs work the best, brats are a nightmare.  Anything greasy will squirt and sizzle.  A bun on the same holders for a minute or so will toast your buns as well.  And who doesn't like toasty buns???

I bought a basket that I carry to heat up brats, sandwiches etc.

Here's a pic:

I like it because I can cook lots of different stuff, and I don't have to worry about grease etc. getting on my Buddy Heater.
