2012 Season Observations/Catches
« on: Dec 13, 2012, 12:03 PM »
All right boys, The Season is under way.

What the latest news on the ice.   I.E. Thickness, any catch , openwater issues, Hot Color, anything you've seen trending on the ice.

I ran into a couple of guys this morning that reported 3 to 4 inch ice even after this cold spell, the snow is insulting the first layer causing freezing issues on some parts of the lake.

Tried reetz, no luck, deadsticking and jigging, stayed past sundown. Plan on heading out this weekend, if theres no freezing rain.
Jesus was said to have walked on water, I feel comfort in knowing he was an avid ice fisherman like me.

Lakota- capped but thin. 2"-3" across in front of the dam. Should be good soon.
Center- Capped, 3-4" all the way across.
Legion- Good to go. 4-6". thicker under the shade of the big rock face by the dam.
Sylvan- 3-6" depending on where you were. In the areas that stay shaded are better.

Marked fish in 30 FOW by the dam at Stockade. Fished it for 2 hours with 2 bites total. Used maggots on about every color jig head I have, used a silver Hali, used a small Live Target spoon too. Fished Legion for a bit, had a couple good bites there too, but never iced a fish.
