That reminded me of another issue I didn't like about trying to reverse it down the hole.. It seemed like half of my second hole's chips ended floating back up in the first hole...

Must have gear reduction on yours? Never had that issue.

I use reverse on my kdrill all the time. It works great. I do use a higher speed on the drill for that. 2 1/2 ft of ice and works for me.

I have a gearbox, but I haven't tried it yet with the gear box. I could run it in second gear if I wanted more RPM.

Wow, after 40 some years of ice fishing, I didn't realize there were so many ways to remove ice shavings from the hole! Lol. Forward, reverse, plunging, half rpm's, full rpm's, metal scoop. Hope everyone has a great and safe season on the ice regardless how you remove the ice shavings!
I was kind of thinking the same thing, worry so much about ice chips and haven't even caught a fish too move the chips anyway?

I have dropped heavy lures down through the uncleaned holes and still caught fish one after the other.
