Does anyone have a current ice conditions for Hague ? We are coming up this week and are staying at the Trout House. We would like to fish for lakers and perch. If anyone has some input it would be greatly appreciated, maybe even a second choice up in that area instead of coming down to Bolton. Thank you.

I'm really hoping the lake gets enough rain to get the snow under the crust to almost liquefy then single digits Saturday night I'm thinking walking will be pretty good

I was out yesterday.  6-8" of snow with crust on top, if I didn't have a wheeler I wouldn't have even left the parking lot.

I'd be cautious going out of Hague especially once you get out near the sunken island.  Closer to shore should be fine.  There were some thin spots out further just off the northwest side of it that likely haven't gotten any better since the snow and the sunken island was dink perch city anyway.  I haven't fished Rogers Rock this year so I don't know about that but I personally wouldn't run a machine in any of that area on the north basin.  It's a few minutes down to Bolton but if you're after perch AND lakers at the same time not only is the ice better but the perch are running bigger so you may end up wanting to do that and you could use an atv or sled there also.  Good luck.

Wheeler has chains and is ready to go.  Did you go out of Hearthstone?

Yes but probably not going to Vet's tomorrow.  I don't trust that ice on the deep water there yet with a machine.

I still haven't decided where I'm getting on the lake but vets is the shorter walk unless you are running a touge train Sunday  ;)

Went up north today. About 8 inches of black ice. 2 inches of water and about 6 inches of sloppy snow. Rain didn’t knock it down that much just made it nasty. Normally run my atv in 2 wd. I had to run it in 4x4 with the lockers on. The shore line is pretty jacked up.  I had to drive through about 1.5 feet of water before the ice. Ice is kinda sketchy tapering down in thickness towards deep water.  Came across some pressure ridges that I wasn’t able to cross. Didn’t look too bad in the am but I walked up and drilled less the 4 inches. By the time I packed up it had standing water around it. Also noticed a big wet spot about mid way into the lake. If your walking being an extra pair a legs because it’s going to suck. Lol. Oh yeah and good rubber boots !

If you don’t plan on walking very far you’ll be fine. It’s  the ice is slick as snot under the snow.

Fished today off Ft. Ann Beach. 5” of snow on the lake. Wasn’t too bad walking out this morning. Ice was 6-8” thick (measured). Managed to land 6 Lakers (20”-27”), really had to work for them today! I lost a real nice fish late morning at the hole and had lots of lookers. Drag back was all slush....ugh! But that’s ice fishing. Took a few pics...

Thanks for the info.
I'm guessing that water hole is the shoreline torn up from machines?
Something to consider about using them a little later so walkers can still access.
