A couple of numbers are in the Bait Shop sticky above. Might need updating, let me know.

I buy chipper blade augers specificially so I can sharpen them myself.  All you need is a small fine file and some oil.  Take the blade off and put it in a vice.   Sharpen only the ANGLED part, not the flat bottom part. You must keep the same exact angle of the dangle.   After I use the file and am satisfied with the sharpness, I then wrap some 400 grit wet-or-dry sandpaper on the file and hone it a little more. Trust me it'll be sharper than factory or anybodys re-sharpeng job!

About how many holes do you usually get out of a set of blades before sharpening?

Totally dependent on the dirt content  of the ice and the amount of holes you drill.

Ruined a set of lazer blades on the 1st hole up at Pathy one time.

Other times you can go a couple years on a set.

If you dont hit dirt you can get many 100's of holes-

Completely agree with SLAYERFISH. I do it the same way. Sometimes they are so sharp I feel like the auger is going to pull me into the hole the blades cut so fast.
Just add water.
