Who's Coming To The Pathfinder HAWG Derby??
« on: Jan 10, 2014, 09:16 AM »
Its all most time again for the Pathfinder HAWG Derby, just wondering if any fellow shanty members are going to make it. Will be a good time if the weather permits.
Thanks
Randy

Yea  If I remember right Pat was the only one that caught a walleye and it was a little one  LOL  But this last season Pathy was on fire for walleye and they are already catching them threw the ice more than ever,I haven't been out but 2 times this season but sunday I hope to go out and give it hell. Its gonna be a good time so if any of you go please come by the shelter even if you don't catch fish and say Howdy. and bring your files for sharpening cuz the sand this year is horrible

If anyone needs minnows for hawg derby or glendo give chucks bait a call.   Bought from him and he has a good selection.  I'm sure others on here have purchased bait from him.   Chuck. 307-259-7254

Great to hear so many of you are coming out,I was out yesterday to check ice and found it to be a good 12" to 16" all over by the dam and marina area,Hopefully county gets out this week and plows Bishops rd and other spots that are needed. Be safe and good luck

Yep wouldn't bother me one bit if the walleye over took that reservoir

If you fished Pathy last year at all you might think that happened, we caught more walleye than we ever have.I am still a trout guy also but something happened in that lake and really woke the eyes up

Not asking for anyones hot spots, but where would a guy start looking for the walleye.

I think the walleyes had a good spawn cause the majority of what I'm catching are the same size

Enough snow on the lake for a machine??? Plans are almost solidified. But me and my buddy have never fished the lake before. Going to just pick a spot on the map and go for it early saturday morning and then try and find us a spot through the slow part of the day.

Anywhere to stay away from on machines....besides the usual pressure ridges and cracks. Thanks guys.

Is the spring pre/post spawn walleye bite good @ Seminoe and Pathfinder?

In my experience the walleye bite doesnt heat up on path or Seminoe until surface temps approach 70 degrees...usually late June early July.

That is pretty common for a lot of lakes...the summer bite is almost too easy sometimes....  from what I understand if you know where to look for them though they can be caught pre and post spawn pretty well... I've never had much luck @ Glendo at that time of year was thinking of trying Seminoe or Pathfinder.

Good luck to any derby-goers!

There's snow drifts on the ice. And lots of snow drifts on land makes it really hard to get around. Make sure you an get where your planning on going

I'll bring the snow machines then. Should make quick work of snow drifts. Park at the marina or bishops and take off from there. Thanks for the response.

Hey POK,As of last sunday there was plenty of snow on the lake and even around most shore for a machine but we all know with wind and the weird weather we are having that changes daily but on a good note I believe we are suppose to get a little more snow this evening or through the nite.If you go to the marina area, stop by the big shelter (Dia-base) is where our headquarters are and I might be able to direct you to a spot or 2

Thanks Randy I appreciate it. I might try to get ahold of you saturday during the day. I won't be there until late friday probably and going to wake up and try to just fish somewhere we find in the dark. No thin spots of ice to look out for correct???

I wouldn't get to crazy in the dark, there's some pressure ridges forming and some real slushy spots, the pressure ridges were just barely humped up but the ice was shaky
I'd rather do it on the ice

Yea we don't plan on it. We won't even know where we're out so just kind of pick a spot on the map that's fairly easy access and fish it until the bite slows. Then maybe move when we can see what's going on.

Thanks guys
