Pipes ...welcome to Team Iceshanty...i fixed your photo post for you...after you click on the insert image icon , the url goes between the brackets..you had posted it after them...click on modify and youll see what i mean
(http://)
I'm apparently a bigger moron than I thought. All I get is (http://).
I do see the "modify" button after I post. So where do I save my pic(s) to, so that I can give it an http address?
UGHHH!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
billditrite, I wonder if you can help me out. I'm using photobucket, but am having trouble with resizing. I know avatars are to be 120x120 pixels and full photos are 600x400. Photobucket doesn't seem to allow you to type in the sizes. There are only 4 predetermined sizes to choose from. For an avatar it's 100x75. The other size for larger is 320x240 and 640x480. Any input would be appreciated.
(http://[IMG]http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r171/t_s_p/2222.jpg) [/img]thanks billditrite can't see modify post button. There is a post and preview and spellchecki would be in the top right after you have posted, on you post
pick the one you want and right click on it and save it to you computer . then upload it to photobucket and copy & paste the url with the [IMG] tags on it to the signature box in your profile
one last try loli belive your problem is that you have to save your photo as a jpg or gif file before you transfer to photobucket
one last try lol
you need to put the image file in there, not your photobucket main page. This is what should be in there-->
[IMG]http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u162/Troy_Warren/P0002532.jpg[/IMG*] except without the asterick.
also, for it to be an avatar picture the size can't be bigger than 120 x 120 pixels.

I would like to thank Whatpole for his help on getting my technical issue in posting photos on Iceshanty taken care of. He went way beyond the call of duty and refused to admit defeat even though I wanted to several times over the course of many hours of PMs and emails. After all this, he correctly diagnosed and troubleshot the situation and solved the problem, which was mainly due to my inexperience and incompetence.
Thanks a lot Whatpole for your excellent assistance. You and others like you are what make Iceshanty a great forum and community of friends.

If the Entries Board is Closed it means I'm checking entries and updating the Leaders Board. It shouldn't be down for more than 2-3 hours.

What do I do to post pictures, I have a digital camera, kodak, that I download to my computor, I also have picasa, which is faster to send out, so I post a reply to post a picture and then I am lost, I have the pictures on my kodak album, but I don't know what to do past that!

Just testing my avatar to see if it worked, had some troubleI think your avatar image needs to be resized to 100X100 Pixels.
Hello, having a hard time posting pictures. I read through this entire string of messages and can't seem to get this to work. Tried from Kodak galleries and Picasa but continue to get the dreaded red "X". Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've tried to add two as examples.most of us have free photobucket accounts. try that. then click on the bottom box, IMG Code.

Thanks for the encouragement, but still trying. I'm trying to upload two pics so I can enter them in the Tournament. The fish isn't huge, but I have to get this figured out so when the big one shows up, I'm ready.

Picture Posting Instructions;(from rgfixit with a few modifications)
Your photos must be stored online in order to post them.
You can open a free account with www.photobucket.com, www.myfishingpictures. com, or www.hunt101.com
The following instructions are for photobucket account members:
To add an Avatar picture to your account...
1st - resize the picture you want to a maximum of 120 x 120 pixels on your computer.
2nd - open up another window to photobucket and upload that photo to your photobucket account.
3rd - Left click on "IMG Code" for that picture (this will copy the photo info)
4th - Open your Iceshanty "profile", then click on "forum profile information" and paste the address to the "I have my own picture" box and check that box. Your avatar should be displayed in all your posts. You can change your avatar at any time.
To post pictures to the site...
1. Upload your pictures to your photobucket account.
2. Resize any pictures you'd like to post to a maximum of 400x600 pixels. Larger pictures distort the forum page and take longer to load. This can be done easily in Photobucket using the "Edit" options.
3. Open your photobucket album and find the photo you want to add. Place your cursor over the picture and a drop down menu will appear. Left click on the 'IMG Code" and the picture will be automatically copied to your "clipboard".
4. Go to your post you want to add it to on iceshanty.com, right click and "paste" the info.
(if you copy the image code, it already has the "img" tags on the address and no further action is needed.)
For other photo storage sites that don't install the "img" codes onto your photo addresses, you'll have to add them manually.
The "Add BBC tags:" tool bar is at the top of every message dialog below the "Subject" dialog box and the "Message icon". In the lower row, click on the 2nd icon from the left...the "Insert Image" icon(it looks like a small picture).
The command [ img][/img] will appear in your text message.
Paste the address of your picture between the commands like this;
[ img]paste your image location here [ /img]
Be sure not to add any spaces or other characters.
Preview your post to be sure your picture is there and then choose post.
Question for anyone. I now can copy and paste with success, but would like help in how to get two pictures on same post. I have tried several times but it always pastes the same picture twice rather than two different ones. Thanks for the help. icecube.Just copy and paste one link (photo) on one line, hit the enter key a time or two to add blank lines, then copy and paste the second link (photo).

[IMG.]http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/oo53/icecube_2009/002.jpg[/img]
No it still is posting same picture twice.
this is what I'm doing step by step. Clicking on picture one img.,then right clicking to copy. Click on picture 2 img, right click, copy. Go to ice shanty paste enter 4 times, paste, and each time it is whichever picture I have chosen first. You have to do those steps for each image - i.e. go to picture one and copy and paste to Ice Shanty - go back to picture two and copy then paste to Ice Shanty, etc., etc., etc.
I have been trying that, but each time I go back to photbucket and back to ice shanty, the post I started is gone.Open two windows in your browser (open your browser twice if you have to - one to IceShanty and another to Phtobucket.
Thanks to all who helped. This is icecubes wife trying to help the cause. Mrs. Icecube.    :flex: :flex: :icefish:
I have a photobucket account and when i copy the url and paste it on this site for my avatar all that happens is a box with a question mark in it shows up for the picture. How do I get the picture to show up instead. any help would be appreciated.copy the bottom box, Img Code, and paste it in the reply box.
If you mean the box after i have my own picture, thats what ive been trying. My avatar just shows up as the question mark in the box.You do have the image resized to 120 X 120 or smaller- right? Just asking. And this is a link (url) not like the image posting markup for into a message.
yes it is 120 x 120 and i am using the url. Just cant get it to work.
So what's the photobucket "link" to your avatar image?
When I resize the image to 120 i cant seem to click the direct link without it changing it back to the big size. Is there a way to click the direct link right from the edit/resizing page.i had that problem. resize, the go back to the 'my albums' page, and copy it there.
Thanks for helping me through this pooley. I finally went on my album page and clicked on the picture which brought it up big. I then resized it on that page. This had the direct link which I copied into my add picture box. 8)glad i could help. nice winter home!
ttttttttyou trying to put up a avatar redjones?
been trying to put a picture as avatar but every time it says the avatar you have selected is to large or not a avatar. i have resized it on photobucket way below 120x120. i have tried the direct link and img code selections.i have read the other posts before me and have tried all. even getting rid of img brackets. any suggestions i will try.

Maybe we need a Topic on Resizing. It's not rocket surgery. :cookoo:
Maybe instead of being the all mighty picture resizing police and trying to make others feel dumb you could offer suggestions to help others who have not done this process yet. Or you could just be an A$$ and criticize others. :nono: I read many post almost half that have misspellings or improper grammar or the incorrect use of there, their, and they're and so on and so forth but criticizing others is not necessary. Be helpful instead. This is supposed to be a fun and informative sight for ice fishing not facebook ;DWell Codewordcs1, I happen to believe you are among the most astute people on Iceshanty. That pic of ?(your offspring)? with that huge crappie is very well done with the focus on the face and is a great sight to see ~ that big smile truly warmed my heart.
No not surgery - but it could be rocket "science".It actually was rocket science, back in the 60s, though we left that part to the scientist and engineers. Us hands-on folks were the surgeons and connected blanking covers, hoses, tubing, gauges, timers and other goodies for testing that I must leave unnamed. We called ourselves rocket surgeons to those that would get a laugh from it. We had fun doing a serious job where lives were ah, umm, out there. That's when the phrase became a part of my humor package and will remain.

Paste the address of your picture between the commands like this;
[ img]paste your image location here [ /img]
Be sure not to add any spaces or other characters.
Preview your post to be sure your picture is there and then choose post.
Bean I'm trying to change my profile pic and went through your instructions. Started a photobucket acct. and got the pic I want on there and copied. Went to the change profile page and pasted it to the box and it showed up on there but when I clicked "change profile" all I get is the dreaded empty box with the red "X". Everything I think went well per instructions but the pic wont show. Any help ? Thanks Glennresize the photo. it may be too big. 120x120 max
(http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/jj602/greatdanne421/icefishing.jpg)your avatar pic has to be resized. no bigger than 120x120 pixels.
New to the site...... My test of avatar and picture posting.
test(http://i1169.photobucket.com/albums/r504/texmania/2011-1.jpg)finally figured out picture posting!
I tried to resize my photobucket photos before I posted them, but I am having problems with my flash player (vista 64 bit not compatible with newest flash player). What do I have to do to make this work again? Any help would be appreciated.you need to click on Direct Link for avatars, not IMG Code.
When I copy and paste the direct link, the error message says it is too large. I used to be able to resize them on photobucket, but the latest adobe flash player isn't compatible with vista 64 bit. I can't watch any you tube videos, and some pictures like on autotrader either.you should still be able to resize them. i can't download the new flasher on the firehouse computer, but can still resize them.
I set up the photobucket account. When I move the curser over the photo, not pop up menu appears. This is such a pain. I work on comupers all day and never have this much trouble with anything. Any advise?click on IMG Code, then copy here.

Photobucket wont let me down size my picture to have for my profile pic/ avatar thing. Any suggestions?

I like your avatar
The big question for a lot of people is going to be which is the easiest one to use that's free and secure since some aren't too computer savvy.
Well I have to ask the inevitable. Does this site allow or use Flickr photo hosting? I tried to change my avatar previously hosted by photobucket, no longer shown. Are there any easy steps or do I have to go to another hosting site. Thanks.
You can host your images anywhere you choose Fisherman 1.Ok thanks, I'll give it another try.

It’s a conversation and some direction on using “PostImage” as a new host.
It’s free, very easy to use and this site has incorporated its functionality as well ( notice the blue words “ add image to post” below the box where we are typing in comments .
Ok thanks, I'll give it another try.you bet!
I've tried everything for my avatar..
Are you able to use the code given by postimage?
You can select an avitar size...

I tried yesterday for quite sometime with no results ..PMd IceShanty for a resolution/solution to thisyour avatar image needs to be on a host site. and it needs to be 120x120 or less.
Thanks, but I don't keep pics anywhere but my phone. Just seems like one extra step just to post a pic. No biggie.you might want to think about using a free image hosting site to have your images backed up. postimage is super easy and free and allows 3dr party links (hosts for sites like this one). most of all the others say in their terms of service that they do not allow 3rd party hosting.
just paste the link i made for you into your profile avatar.
your welcome ;)
you as well!
any one want me to try to fix their avatar? just post it here and i'll see what i can do when i get a chance.
Help.......Trying to get my avatar back with no luck!!!!

So I went to postimg.cc, uploaded a photo, and now it gives me a number of options to choose from to post...but none of them look like the example you gave. Which one do I choose?
3300, thanks for the explanation. I had read your previous post and was not 100% sure I understood - TECH is not my strength.
Would be a shame to lose all that history.

120x120 pixels is maximum size for avatars. Image needs to be smaller than that or the server won’t accept it. Cubs image looks to be 150x150.
Testing..
