Help with custom rod building?
« on: Feb 20, 2004, 10:42 AM »
Hey. I am thinking about making my own custom "laker" rod with a 42" or 46" length.  I can't find an ice rod big enough for the task, and I am not willing to fork over the 80 bucks for a Thorne Bro's. I have looked at Cabelas and St. Croix, but their blanks are too small. All of my fly rods are St. Croix, and I like the quality, but I need something bigger than 32". Anyone have any suggestions. I have never done this before; can anyone give me some ideas?

I took a look at a couple ice rod blanks out of the Janns site, and here is a 42" http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/Items.aspx?disp=list&hierId=neticerod
