I just wonder what you guys think, would you use fireline or mono for jigging for fish? I know mono doesn't freeze up as easy as fireline, you can tie lures easier, and it handles better. But fireline is more sensitive and easier to set the hook because of the lack of stretch. What do you guys think are the advantages and disadvantages of each? When should you use mono and not fireline for jigging?

i am trying fireline for the first time this yr for icefishing. i can see nothing but + using this.  i have a friend that says to use the spray one fish attractant on your spool of line and it keeps the freezing up of the line way down.  we'll see!

My biggest gripe about Fireline is that the line is so slick it is impossible to use slip bobbers with Fireline.  The weight of the jig actually was enough to make the bobber stop slide on the line.  I do like jigging for deep water 'eyes with it though.  For panfish I'm sticking with mono.

fireline may be nice for some fishing, but i'll stick to my mono (original stren). it may not have the sensitivity of some lines, but i've found it to be extremely resistant to chaffing under all conditions.  

I use 5#test Spider Wire 1# test diameter with great results. The only problem i have is seeing it to tie knots. My eyes arent as good as they once were lol

yes there is a difference CaptnJohn.  I use fire line on just about everything.  I use 4lb for pan fish.  as far as slip bobbers I tie my own slip knots and once tight do not have a huge problem with the knot slipping.  sometimes with larger panfish it does slip on the guides.  only takes a few secs to tie a new one on.  

Fire line is great.  even caught a few northerns on the line and they did not break it.
