Title: need a rod
Post by: MackAttack on Mar 01, 2004, 10:18 PM
A few weeks ago I bought a HT Ice Blue trout rod (24"). Thought heavy action would be the ticket.Doesn't jig worth a darn. We have some big Macs around here and just not sure what will do. I looked at Petersons for a medium action 34" baitcast ice rod but can't seem to find one. Does anyone know if someone makes a rod like this?

Hey. I bought the same rod a couple of weeks ago. I took it to Granby for macks and couldn't even feel the jig! I couldn't tell when the jig hit bottom. I ended up switching to a 34" Eagle Claw which worked a little better. The "Ice Blues" is going back to Wal-Mart. These rods are made of fiberglass. I am thinking of building my own graphite rod about 42" or 46", because I can't find one anywhere. Let me know if you find something.

Try www.thornebros.com
They make some really nice ice rods and if you call them they can recommend one for your needs.
