I live in Utah but also fish in Idaho so attend the Idaho boards as well as the Utah boards.  Hope its okay that I chimed in.  (I'm yanking softly on your chain Steve.)   :thumbsup:

I've had the itch since March....

For the first time in a while I don't plan on making any large purchases. Last year I bought a 2nd finder (Humminbird ICE 35, love it; my other is an older showdown that still works great) and the year before a new shanty (Frabil, last suitcase style I could find. I really like having a floor). I have a really good hand auger (6 inch lazer) so no need for a power one.

Though I could use a few more rods and more jigs.....hmmmm...haha.

I had a second ankle surgery in September, but should be good by the time the ice arrives! This year we are really going to try to make a trip to Cascade. Does anyone know when the season typically kicks off there? (Historically)

I predict a blockbuster ice season.  The squirrels around my neighborhood are everyone all at once i.e. extremely busy.  They are, the squirrels, working really hard to survive the coming bad winter with below normal temps and the coming hard winds from the North.  We should all buy extensions for our ice augers and upgrade our heaters.  Somehow I am hoping my ice fishing skills will see me through coming onset of global cooling that will usher us into the next ice age.

Has anyone stopped in Cabela's to see if they have their gear out yet? Sportsman's in Twin had their stuff out already (though I think they got some more to come...hopefully).

I was thinking of a trip to Boise Saturday but if they don't have stuff out yet I could wait another week.
