bite finally broke
« on: Jan 20, 2022, 07:18 AM »
been ruff the last week around here.  lots of lookers pinned to bottom.  that wasnt the case yesterday morning.  we did pretty good for the time we had to fish at _________ lake.  we had 4 flags out also but no takers.  now we get hit with another cold front that will probably clam them up again :-\

my pile of fillets for my efforts.

and i see polecat was stuffing a few in my sack while i went to check my flags. lol

his sack looked about the same as mine maybe a few more.

Nice haul. It's good to know that my friends and I aren't the only ones that sneak dinks into each other's buckets.

wind was dealt with via hills on the west side of that lake.  we had enough wind the nights before.  polecat almost went on a shanty ride 2 nights ago.  luckily my fat bass was in the path to the basin. ;D he had to improvise adapt and over come with another hole, rope, & a Tbar.  he then had MY wind break tethered for the night. lol

Going to fish Wawasee tomorrow - pretty new to ice fishing, have only done it a couple of times. Is there a specific depth that I need to be working at for a bite?

Depends on what you're after. For panfish i'd stay close to weed lines on the edges of holes/depressions. Fish 10' - 15'. If you don't mark any fish, don't be afraid to move around (if you have a flasher and don't mind drilling a bunch of holes).

Wawassee has some really big pike so if you have tip ups, i'd spread a couple around. 1 shallow on the inside of the weeds in 8-10' and 1 deeper in like 15'+

Good luck out there!
