Title: Gravel pit
Post by: tightliner812 on Dec 28, 2022, 03:09 PM
Anyone got any info on that gravel pit with those 18” crappie and 2 pound bluegills?
I was thinking about hitting it in the morning but wasn’t sure how the ice was over there. Parking a problem this year or do I need to park on the road and sneak in the back side?
Got all of these the the day I got in there last year. Had several over 1 pound biggest was right at 12”

I really only get ticketed in Central Indiana?  They give me crap about being a region boy.  The comment was region people fly through there all the time.  I was raised there, speed through there my whole life.

I only lived there for a year,  that's all it took for me to leave and never go back!

I have friends and family there, I like to visit, but prefer living up here.  Better hunting and fishing.  The only place better would be over towards Fort Wayne. Just my opinion.

The place is now some of the best deer hunting ground to be found in Indiana. reports of 170 class BC bucks being harvested on a daily basis. Possible new world record is said to frequent the area.

On Living in Indy:
Life long Indy resident here and the earlier comments are, for the most part, accurate.  Development and privatization have made access
a challenge.  "Good spots" do exist, but are few and far between.  Nearly all of my outdoor activities begin with a 90 minute drive.
The only good thing about this location - it's half way to everywhere, (except Alaska!)

On giant bucks:
Some  may remember a website that featured video of giant bucks. The "star" of one of the shows was a giant called
"Nightmare". The name came from the fact that he was never seen by day -  only at nigtht on trail cams .His home base was
probably Eagle Creek Park but he sometimes venture out to feed in the corn fields near Brownsburg.  Sadly, on one such venture
he was poached...Shot at 5:00 AM, probably jacklit, in the yard of a tract home in a subdivision with a .270... The poacher drove his
pick up into the yard where the deer fell but couldn't get the nearly 300 lb carcass into the bed. He was later caught with blood all
over the tailgate of his truck.

fish on,

rivereddy
