I love the old-time gear. These were some tough folks...before hand warmers and clams and propane fired Buddies.

great pics, but what was the guy in the 2nd photo going to do with a net three times the size of the hole?
P.S. wouldn't it be nice not hearing the 5hp augers for the 6" of ice we get here.

I love these kind of photos. It was an era of when men were men!

The net is for when the jiggin would get tough they would just cut a bigger whole and dive down and scoop them. Most interesting man in the world style.

These are awesome pictures! I'm only 38 but am a nostalgic kind of guy! I keep my ice fishing simple....no electronics when I'm on the ice.....just tipups, a camp stove for cooking lunch and perking coffee, and time outside!!!!!! I enjoy this forum to discuss my hobby with others but when I'm out there with my son it is about quiet and inexpensive quality time outdoors so these pictures you posted stuck a chord with me! Thanks for taking the time to share!!!!!

you're most welcome. I love the old "ways" also, in fact I always fish with at least 1 antique tip up or pole.
I'm always looking for old stuff at flea markets and garage sales; it drives my bride nuts.

Alot of history in them there photos. Makes me appreciate even the cheapest of ice fishing tools/tackle/shanty's I've had since I was a kid. Specially the clothes!
