Here in Wyoming 45.
You might think I'm crazy but minus temps usually will not not make very good ice.  ???
As a matter of fact I don't like going on ice after a real cold spell. The best Ice I have every seen made or heard is when temps are right at freezing with the sun at full strength you can hear the ice popping and cracking that's making good ice. Whats seems to happen is the warmer the air is above it drives the cold down. I've seen mild days put 1 to 2" of ice on in a day.

A month ago alot of us were complaining about the warm weather now its the cold weather. I guess that is human nature heh.
This week it got up to 39 degrees. Last week -41 degrees. We just chalk that up to another Canadian winter.
I did go fishing when it was -41 degrees but after a couple hours the wind started up and I was without my shack so packed it in.

Too warm here...all week it has been in the high 30's to low 50's >:( :( Here in NE Nebraska that is... we were originally forecasted to get that frigid weather that you in the NE US are getting now... even though I dont like the warm weather we are having now, I sure am glad we arent getting that arctic "breeze"!!!  :) ;)
