2x1x1/16 steel frame for ice shack?
« on: Feb 03, 2020, 05:59 PM »
My buddy want ls me to weld him up a frame for an ice shack for next winter. He can get a good deal on some 2”x1”x1/16 thick galvanized steel for the frame work. The size is 7.5’x16’ for the frame and he’ll frame up the walls and roof with tin 2x4’s.

Was thinking on having legs like 2” every foot welded to “skis” with horizontal stringers 16” on center for the structure. Think it will be strong enough? Thing will just get flat decked onto the ice and towed around with a strap all winter.

Thinking it will need lots of cross bracing. Did my 8x7 with 1 1/4 sq alum, spool gun welded. Made for a nice light shack.
