Jiffy Propane Pro4 Ice Auger Flight Issues
« on: Dec 04, 2018, 07:46 PM »
Picked up a used Jiffy Propane Pro4 Ice Auger during the summer and just started looking to get it going for the season.
The issue is where the blades attach at the bottom are loose.

Never seen a flight before with a completely separate piece that bolts to the bottom of the flight.

I've tried tightening it but it is still is loose.
Couple pictures below.

Any thoughts?

I'm guessing it has to do with the last picture with the bolt and spacers

Try to reassemble it correctly. You may have to use a good amount of force to tighten it up so that the plate doesn't "rock" back and forth. If that is the issue you are having. That is what happened to mine anyhow. The plate holding the center point and blades would rock back and forth about 1/4 - 1/2 of an inch. Essentially you need to reef on it enough to squeeze the split shaft so that it clamps on it tight. You don't want to knuckle bust and catch a ripper blade and end up in the ER. You can remove the blades if that is of concern. That is my thought. Good luck.
It must be something in the water.
