Strikemaster wing bolt
« on: Feb 19, 2018, 08:50 AM »
I have a Clam plate driving a 7" strickmaster.  Well after about 100 holes I have noticed a little wear on the wing bolt.  I keep it as tight as I can but it look to have a little play in it. Looking to see what others have done.  I know you can drill it out and use a standard bolt but with the 3/8 shoulder on one side it's not what I was looking for.  Any thoughts? Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the response Gills.  Where did you find a shouldered Allen bolt?  Or do you just use a regular Allen bolt and just ignore the need for a shoulder?  I would think that without that shoulder you would interduce more play.  Thank you.

2 shouldered Allen bolts?  Never seen a Clam plate come with a shouldered Allen bold for the auger bit before. You must have got a one of a kind clam plate.  I don't think the plate comes with a auger connector bolt.  If it's that simple I'll just call clam for one. Thanks again

My clam plate also came with those bolts, unless I was mistaken and they came with the extension. I didn’t use them since it’s easier to transport and store it with it collapsed and taken apart, so those wing bolts are just too convenient.

I think they come with the extension. That was the last piece I ordered, and I have those two bolts still in my work area.

This previous thread will explain things with pictures and everything.  The wing bolt is a metric size and can be replaced with a metric  "socket head cap screw".  The head of the "socket head cap screw"  is the same diameter as the shoulder on the wingbolt.

go to strikemaster web site and get a new wing nut.  mine have held up for a number of years.  i just put a little thread lock on it the red kind and it holds well.
