New Marcum M1 Problems
« on: Dec 31, 2017, 09:24 AM »
Buddy of mine just purchased his first flasher, the marcum m1.

we went straight to the lake and tried it out.

everything worked great except the gain knob. as im trying to set it up for him, i noticed everything was showing a very high gain even around 1-2.

so as im trying to get the gain down so his jig was a green/yellow, the knob would wiggle slightly and go from 0 to max gain. couldnt really dial it in due to some knob malfunctions. ended up fishing it with his bait and bottom just glowing red. really sad being right out of the box.

anyone else have any issues with the power gain control?

There are marcum salesman and warranty service people on this site that would usually chime in but they are probably off for the New Year. I'm sure they'll respond by Wednesday.
It must be something in the water.

Is there anything that comes out of the box that doesn't need an update an upgrade or a fix.

There is a internal set screw on the internal shaft that knobs sits on. Pretty easy to take care of yourself by cracking it open and taking some screws apart otherwise fill out a warranty claim and ship it in. marcumtech.com/support

Will Marcum pay for shipping to have the unit repaired?

the cost of innovation.   the vehicle world is being turned upside down with Tesla's technology.  driving it into a new era.  but Tesla's are big piles o junk with all sorts of software glitches.  but the benefits of ushering in a new world of vehicles is worth it to many.

just an update. buddy was able to bring it back to the store he bought it and exchange it ( st croix rods ). pretty nice of them to do that. figured he would have to deal with a bunch of phone calls and shipping BS.

still haven't tried out the new one yet.

There’s a recent episode of in-depth outdoors where they are using the new m-series with the lithium shuttle. There’s a part in the video where it shows the flasher being pushed out of the hole and across the ice by the wind. The go-pro they have mounted on it shows them chasing after it as it just gets farther away lol. So these things are rather light!

LOL...That's gotta be some really strong wind.  I can't see it blowing away the lithium shuttle.  It's still like 4 or 5 lbs in weight all together or something.  I'd be more worried about my hub flying off the anchor before the wind takes the lithium shuttle.
