Powow Pond in Kingston
« on: Nov 21, 2017, 06:12 PM »
can anyone give me any insight on this pond? would like to get my 6 yr old grandson introduced to ice fishing and this pond is close to his home. what kind of fish? any size? he  is dying to catch a LM bass. He was disappointed this spring when he caught a 15" rainbow and found out that it was not a bass.

Its ok. Its gotten so choked with weeds over the years, it can be tough to fish. Best bet is out in the middle or toward train tracks. i think the deepest spot is only around 10 ft. But definitely bass in there. Can be a fun spot for a kid.

For largemouths, Lots of 1-2 lbers, but i believe there could be some decent ones left in there. For me, they are very far and few between at that place. Dont really fish it through the ice anymore, way better other ponds around.
Ive never seen a crappie come out of there. If you wanna stay local to Kingston, go to Greenwood  for those.
Good luck.

Years ago I would get some very nice yellow perch, not many big ones, but not all little ones...
