Old electric ice auger help
« on: Nov 08, 2017, 09:55 AM »
I got back into ice fishing last year after a decade long hiatus. My late grandfather have me his old (1990s era?) Strikemaster electric auger that must be attached to a separate 12 volt battery (no onboard battery).

It's SLOW! My question, is there any way to speed it up? Will it run faster on an 18 volt drill battery if I wire it correctly, or will the extra voltage burn out the motor?

Ultimately I don't want to spend the money on a new auger, but lugging a car battery around is a pain and it takes ages to drill holes.

Don't know to much about that type of auger but those 2 points right there would lead me in another direction
