I watched the cafeteria staff at work do exactly that when they ran out the other day.  Actually, I think they mixed in prepared horseradish, not sauce.  In either case, you can reduce the heat but still have a good flavor, by using less.  I will try to remember to ask them about the measurements.

I use horseradish and ketchup as mentioned above. Can easily cut the spice with extra ketchup if necessary (for the guests)

Heinz Ketchup
Old County Packers white horseradish
a dash of lemon juice
and a dash of Worcestershire Sauce

Add as much horseradish to your liking.  This horseradish can be pretty hot too!!

This.... You can use your local brands. Plus I also like a squirt or two of heat (tabasco or whatever you have, like or can tolerate) and a shake of Old Bay.

I'm not too picky the brand or recipe of my cocktail sauce but always "doctor it up" with a little old bay and garlic powder but most importantly Shiracha sauce! It works awesome in cocktail!

Agree with the recipe, except I put the old bay and garlic in my breading recipe.

Ketchup
Horseradish
Lemon Juice

The horseradish could be spicy enough depending upon your tolerance. If not I would add some sort of hot sauce that you like.
