Anyone at Carson lately? How is the ice holding up, and how was the fishing? Thinking about travelling that way this weekend and any update would be appreciated.

Fished at Gull on the weekend, the ice is still very good up by the Parkland beach area. Lots of people out for the family day weekend.

Newell and Mcgregor. No fish at either but the ice was still good. Drove on at Newell not at Mcgregor. All permie shacks at Newell were off the ice and on the shore.  With the cold weather here ice should be good till season end in 2 weeks. If we get any sort of good warm spell with a west wind the ice won't be good till the end of season.

I've been at Alberta Beach all week and there was an excellent 6-8" of ice at the many spots I fished.

How's the fishing been out there?

Lac ste Anne has some decent ice. Clear and solid.

12" a couple hundred yards from shore and 8-10" about 1km out. Walked it and drilled holes yesterday. Didn't fish.

Son was out on Blacket today with the family.

10' of solid black ice 12' in some spots.

No issues quading anywhere along the shore line out to a couple hundred yards out. Although he never tried he is sure you could cross with out any concern.

8-11 inches on Pigeon, south side.  Quaded on.  No troubles.  Ice is really hard this year.  No heaves encountered.  Could be a banner year.

Spray lake = zero ice  as of Nov 29th at noon.
I was shocked.

Does anyone have an update for Gull or Sylvan for tomorrows opening?

Ummmm.   Those lakes are closed until 10-Dec every year.  So this year they open on a Monday.  Which is 11-Dec.

From other updates I've heard that Sylvan is at least 8 inches on average so far.  Gull is 10 inches and deeper.  This from the AO site.  I've got a bet on Sylvan making 11 inches by opening day :).  Hoping to win some bragging rights.

DOH!
Thanks Snap, for setting me straight... I knew there had to be  reason why I was asking..The universe just wanted to make sure I was corrected on a bad remembery.

Sheesh.. too much to try and keep track of til everything is open and the ice is safe.

Anyone know anything about  lakes around the Caroline area?... did the ice get destroyed this last week or are places like Phyllis, Burnstick, Dickson Trout Pond  still in the safe zone for walk ons?

Pigeon averages 10 inches as well.  Even the odd 11-12 inch spot.

It is going to be warm this week so regular updates will be even more important.  Hopefully not to the point of degrading the ice in North-central.

Scouted Gull Lake yesterday.  Average of 12 inches of solid ice with the odd 14 inch.  I hear sylvan is averaging 14 inches and deeper.  Now that is great start!   Warm temps really didn't melt anything but snow on top.  Both have really good solid dark ice.  Cleats are really needed, especially on Sylvan.  Good to go.

Long bay is partly froze over, may get out a ways with a quad. The lake is still wide open you could launch a boat and get your troll on if you wanted to.

Scratch my previous post on Sylvan.  I got bad information.  I found an average of 8.5 inches between RR23 and Sunbreaker.

Gull on the other hand is seeing a lot of vehicles and averages 13 inches.  I even found a spot that was just over 15 inches.

Any updates for Edmonton area lakes?

How about Cold Lake?  Is it froze over yet?

Just remember the worst day of fishing is still better than the best day at work!
