It seems just about everyone is sick of summer, Ice shanty seems to have more activity right now than MFF lol. I’ve been getting ideas and plans. I’m toying with the idea of filling my 125 gallon fish tank up, and start fishing for golden shiners and chubs to keep as bait. For preping, so far I got some new gear, but I haven’t actually pulled out the jig rods to add new line yet. I picked up a new reel with plans on putting together a lake trout rod. Last month I got the panoptix ice package so I could get some open water use out of it before hitting the hard top.

Pulled Tundra out of storage today. Charging the battery.  Might use it for elk/deer before ice...i hope.  Will camp in the enclosed snow machine trailer for 4 days next week while chasing big trout... i hope.   Best time of year!

On top of all that...the Packers just pulled off one of the most incredible comebacks.

Just winterized and had the Center Console shrink wrapped for the winter. A few more weeks for the Chu. One more modified race to go at Wall Stadium in NJ ( Turkey Derby ) Thanksgiving weekend. Bring on the cold. Moved the ice gear to the front of my fishing closet.

Got my stuff ready to go ditching the gas auger this year and picked up a new Milwaukee drill and the kdrill. Only thing left that I need is a new sled. Without the gas auger the smell sled will do just fine

“Milwaukee drill and the kdrill”. That is what I have and you are really going to love it. Charged my two batteries up yesterday and they were still almost at full capacity.

Ditto that.

Let's go.  My stuff is ready! The benefit of having very little family is while everyone is stuffing turkeys I may get a chance to stuff a 8" hole with teeth!  Have Friday off too!

Haven't put the open water gear away just yet, but will be breaking out the ice gear within the next two weeks.
After I store most (if not all) of the open water gear, I will break out the ice stuff.

1) check auger blades on my 6", 8" and 10" augers.
2)Check the line on the tip-ups and jigging rigs.
3) Check the jigs (rigged and unrigged) and sort whatever lures I want to bring in my tackle bag trays.
4) Pray of early ice!!!

For anyone near the border of North Eastern CT there is a new store in Putnam called Runnings and they have an awesome ice fishing section with almost as much ice gear as cabelas or basspro.

Runnings is pretty legit. I've been pretty impressed with their selection.
