Did you put glass on the inside or just outside? I know you put resin all over though

I put the cloth both inside and out.

I'm gonna try to get at it again tomorrow.  Would like to have had it done by now but I decided to go fishing the last couple days instead.  Go figure haha

Well just got done with the fiberglass.  Gotta tell ya, I've got the spins from the fumes. Thats some potent stuff!  I didn't take any pics because it looks exactly the same as the last pics I posted.

I should be able to wrap everything up pretty quick once this final coat dries.  Little bit of sanding and some carpet.  Sounds simple enough, knock on wood.

how does the overall stregnth seem so far? did the cardboard sag at all from the weight of the glass?

No sag at all in the cardboard.  Inside of the center console there were spots where I didn't put any fiberglass cloth and it was stronger than normal but not as strong as i was looking for.  I got those spots covered today so it should be good to go.

The strength of the box is unreal!  With just one layer fiberglass cloth on the entire thing, it can easily support my weight sitting on it.  (185lbs)  If you put a couple layers on, this bad boy would probably be bulletproof!

I gotta admit, I'm pretty pumped to see if everything pulls though with this project.  I originally wanted to build an entire floor with storage compartments out of wood but decided on just a center console instead to avoid a lot of weight.  If I had the fiberglass idea prior to starting this, I would of done the entire floor with a center console built in.  I've been brewing up some really good ideas for my next shanty!

That is impressive! Awesome job.

Looks like using heavy wood for such projects could become a thing of the past!

Carpet finished:

These 2 pics are of the center console fitted into place:

These last 3 pics are of it with the top door done:

I just picked up some hinges and a cabinet latch today.  Get those put on along with a little electrical work and this bad boy is ready to rock.

Thanks man!  I got the drink holders from the local pontoon shop.  I've seen them at walmart as well next to all the boat stuff.  If you can't find them in a store try www.overtons.com.

Here's a direct link to the cup holders:

Great job on the console, and a question where did you find the switch box for the lights?  Thanks.

Thanks!  I found this model at cabelas in dundee mi.  It was $69.99, a bit pricey but the front is completely waterproof and it has a cig lighter built in.  When I did my bowfishing boat 2 summers ago, I bought one at www.overtons.com for a reasonable price.

Very nice!

Not sure if I missed it in the thread, but do you have it attached to the tub in any way, or is it free standing?
