Probably too late now.....
« on: Apr 11, 2019, 08:47 AM »
I know this isn't ice fishing but it is related to fishing.  Anyone else own a boat and been following this years legislative session?  I  have a couple boats and have been following the AIS overreaction.  Check out HB 411 which has passed the house and has been transmitted to the senate.  http://laws.leg.mt.gov/legprd/LAW0203W$BSRV.ActionQuery?P_SESS=20191&P_BLTP_BILL_TYP_CD=HB&P_BILL_NO=411&P_BILL_DFT_NO=&P_CHPT_NO=&Z_ACTION=Find&P_ENTY_ID_SEQ2=&P_SBJT_SBJ_CD=&P_ENTY_ID_SEQ=

I cry BS, **censored** and lots of other things.  You only have to read the first couple of sentences, decreasing fees for non residents and increasing fees for residents.  >:(

Where do they think AIS comes from, my back yard??  Way to go Curdy!!

Really, so have to pay that for canoes, kayaks and rafts?

Maybe it has been changed but what I'm reading show that non-motorized vessels will also need an AIS pass. I don't see anything wrong with lowering non-resident prices either. Non-residents already get screwed when it comes to hunting and fishing in our state as it is. I couldn't believe how much it cost my friend to come and paddlefish last year.

Yea, seems like they're higher non resident prices than some other states. I was shocked at what it would cost to come up for a weekend of fishing there.

Yaho.
Your correct looks like the "current" bill removed "motorized" so is all vessels......
For some reason only the first bill showed up when I first looked at it.

Well, at least Bill 411 is confusing to understand.  Weird how they charge Hydroelectric plants a invasive species fee by the kilowatt.  How does the Hydro plant induce or introduce invasive species?  Why do they have to pay?  That is ridiculous.  I hope the Hydros protest that part of the bill.
wish you many hook-ups
