Title: Trophy Strike Electric Auger
Post by: reubenpa on Feb 05, 2018, 10:52 AM
I was the one who was fortunate and won the Trophy Strike electric Auger.  I have never used one of them before, nor have I used any other electric augers before so did not have any idea what to expect.  I got home late Friday night and immediately dug into the box to see this new treasure of mine! The power head was definitely lighter than any gas or propane auger that I have ever used and it was very easy to put together.  It came in basically three pieces.  The powerhead and the auger itself and the battery.  There is an extension as well, but here in Ohio I will never need that.  :) The auger bolted to the powerhead very easily and I immediately plugged in the battery.  I got up three hours later to fish, and it was at full power!  I had to drill holes for the 6 of us and tipups and immediately fell in love.  It drilled with only the noise of the blades scraping and digging into the ice.  It was light and very easy to hold and control.  It was free as I won it on the random drawings here on the shanty so I figured that if I did not like it, I could sell it.  After the first hole, I realized that there was NO WAY I was letting that thing go.  It was amazing. After a while I saw a couple of guys struggling to get a hole to fish as their blades were bad.  I drilled some for them and when we moved later, they also moved and I drilled their holes again.  We continued farther north than they did and my new auger drilled our holes with ease just like before.  After a few hours those guys followed us up to our area and they used the auger to punch out their new holes.  After a day of use and a bunch of holes, it still had half power and was drilling as if it was the first time.  I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a light and quiet power auger.  Thanks so much to IceShanty (Lonewolf) and to Trophy Strike for this great prize.  I totally love it and am blessed!

Good review on the auger.  This just shows the clout that Ice shanty has to be able to give away a prize like this.

My GF ordered me the 120V, 2018 model last Friday, can't wait to get it and try it out on Winnebago! We have over 2 ft of ice so I'll be able to test it good. Hopefully it comes before battle on bago, I plan on drilling a lot of holes! Love all the reviews on here, I had a hard time finding many reviews on the web.

looks sweet, gotta love how technology is improving all the time. Always annoying when power auger drips mix gas all over the skimmer when going into lakes.. I may have to look into one of these one day...
Congrats!
