If they are nice that's a good price.
If you have the time make your own for sure.

It depends on what style and material you use to build them. The ones I made dont sit high off the ice. I bet I dont have $8 in each one. And they work great!

Ice,

What do you use for a pole, the cheap plastic reel jig poles cost that much or more?

$20 each is not a bad price at all if they are well built and use quality terminal tackle.  The rod it self costs almost $10 now, add the cost of new line, hook, sinkers, swivel, bolts and wing nuts, glue, nails, wood, eye screws, string, snap clip, and there is very little room left for labor.   It adds up fast if you use quality stuff.

I make and sell them for $20 for a complete ready to fish rig or I sell just the frames for $10 each or 3 for $25.   The only way I can make any money on them is because I get the wood for free and I get nothing for my labor.  Try making them yourself and see what it costs.

Here is a link to them, I have made some changes and use a better connection for the string to the rod.  Instead of a slip knot over the handle I now use a small eye screw in the end of the rod and a snap clip to attach the string to the rod.  I will try to update the photos tonight.

Good job on those. I have just enough carpentry skills to handle that.

Here are some I made a couple years ago. Using scrap lumber and cheap hardware, I've got about $6.00 in each. The rods have gone up a dollar since at the Sportsmans Guide. You should be able to do them for $7.-$7.50 each.

I wrapped solder on the handles to use to adjust the balance on the rods by sliding it up and down the handles.

How do you put pictures in a post?  I have them on Photo Bucket.  I click the Icon that says Insert Image but where do I paste the URL?  I tried pasting it between img and /img but get nothing.

You know the signs people put in their yards to vote for someone? After elections I grab a bunch and use the rod, drill a piece of dowel and opoxy it in. Bend a loop in the tip then a 90°. Ya dont have to rip their lips off to set the hook and I hand line them in. Works great! I gotta price everything again to see qhat I do have in them.

May be a help if you just scroll the cursor over the photo and let it rest there and wait until a small window opens, then scroll to the one labeled IMG CODE and click on that, it then says code copied. Now go back to your post, click your cursor in the post somewhere and right click and chose Paste. Click Preview, to see if you got it.  Good luck CH
