Mormon/magic reservoir
« on: Dec 13, 2018, 11:55 AM »
Anyone have a report on Mormon reservoir or Magic reservoir? It’s been cold enough in the Fairfield area. Just curious if anyone has an idea of thickness of ice? Tried to call west magic resort and no answer

Try them in the evening. Not always open early, and if busy they take awhile to answer. They used to close Monday and Tuesday.

I've heard reports of 4-5 inches at the dam and some at West magic too. Saw video from a co-worker at the dam. Not sure how they did. They told me that people were fishing west magic and catching fish. But I haven't heard much else.

I called the resort the 14th. I was told nobody was fishing around the docks, ice wasn’t thick enough yet, But there was people ice fishing by the hot springs, which didn’t make sense to me. I imagine it’s thick enough now. I heard Mormon has 6 inches, I’m going there Thursday, hopefully the road in is ok.

Roads were ok. 4x4 would be advised. Conditions were great. 7-8 inches ice, no wind about 25 degrees. Fishing was slow caught three 16-18” rainbows, missed six bites though. Going again tomorrow hoping for some better fishing.
