Necessary to change wood shavings?
« on: Jan 08, 2013, 02:02 PM »
I ordered about 1000 spikes two weeks ago and was wondering if it was necessary to change the wood shavings and whats the easiest way to do so without picking them all out.

Not necessary.
God grant me strength to catch a fish
So large that even I
When telling of it afterwards
May never need to lie.

If you want your bait to last a long time, then yes it is necessary. Any time the bedding looks moist or smells real bad, change it out. Use DRY hardwood sawdust (not from a green tree!), or if you can not find that then pick up a bag of hamster bedding from the pet shop. It will work, but I like hardwood dust the best. Don't use pine, maple, or any chemically treated wood.
