I have a 2 man set up style hut, I fold about 100lbs of gear in there and it is harder then hel* to pull if there is even a little bit of snow on the ice, and if there is slush forget about it. anyideas of how I can make the pull with a little more ease?

Lighten up the load?  Spray Teflon/silicone on the the bottom of the sled?

I kept it as light as i could.

Frame is made of metal wallboard stud.

Built a storage area out of 1/4 flooring inlay.

Store my rod and tackle boxes in the storage box.

Shappell sits on the sled about a foot off the ice for easy pull through deep snow.

This is my set up on the ice.

Works for me!

Good luck everyone and be safe...

thats the only prob, I cant really lighten the load, my shelter is beter part of 50lbs my gater weighs 28lbs and a full bucket of minows is about 20. not to mention my heater, tip-ups, poles, chair, and other accessories like food and coffee

The types of sleds that IceLIne and ohioholepuncher are much easier to pull than a tub type of sled.
Re-distribute your gear onto two of those types of sleds.  Have a buddy pull the other, or connect the two
sleds together--still the same amount gear/weight, just 1/2 as much downward pressure. Get a lighter shelter.
Put your bait in a smaller bucket during transport.  When at site, fill the larger bucket with lake water and
transfer your bait to that (be careful about shocking them with a big temp change).  Take snacks vs small stove
and cooking stuff if you take it.  Gators are great, but they are not light.  Put that hand crank onto your Nils bit.
Just some ideas.  Ice fishermen didn't always pull a couple hundred ponds of gear out onto the ice.

Oh yea, don't forget the flasher.  Leave the fish cam at home.

got the idea from here the sled is a jet sled xl and thats a shappell 4000 on top of it. all gear is stored under it.
If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 36 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in northern New York

way easier then just the shack alone with the ski's. Dont use the rope they give you if you pull by hand, put a longer one on it. I have the hitch to for pulling by sled. around here we get tons of snow and pulling by hand is generally sucky no matter what you do.

Try a ski shop they usually have miss matched pair due to breakage o out dated stuff they will get rid of cheap.  I will keep my eyes and ears open will let you know if I find any.

Nothing special, the steel frame came with my Clam via an estate auction. Pulls nice on ice and such but is a bear in the deep snow, unless using a quad or snowmobile. The shanty holds the basics inside of it. Being its a good 10 inches or so inside, it allows for some tall stuff. I pull the board that covers the holes from the side I place upward, and use it for buckets and such. If we are using a quad and have my brothers Shapell, we lay it flat on the clam. I have noticed as of late that with the snow as deep as we have and the slush, that I had to stop using the steel frame. The clam pulls well closed, but I have been pulling it open with both sides on the ice if its a long walk. The gear just lays flat inside of it at that point.

Jeff

Steel Frame, Angle iron holds the clam from sliding off.

Some of the gear in.

Ready to go.
"Yes dear, I'll be in when fish stop biting"
How many have you got?
"None! They haven't started biting yet."

Pull the hitch pins and the wheels pull off. They have a rod going through the pvc.

Here is my new sled.  it is the same length as a standard dog sled but it is 33" wide. It will hold alot of stuff. it is going to work great for the big trips that need to move alot of gear.

here it is loaded up and ready to go. that is a shappell 3000 on the bottom.   8)

Wow nice job on the sleds !!! Gives me a few ideas. I have the basic components and the box I am currently using is custom make but too big. It's the size of a coffin. :o I have used it for about 5 years but currently changing it, smaller. I could rent out space. :D I will post some pics of my creation when it is completed.
