Electric ice auger???
« on: Dec 19, 2004, 09:55 PM »
Has anybody ever used the strikemaster Electra lazer or the jiffy lectra w/ the stealth auger? Either one of them would have the 8" auger. I fish Lake of the woods which can easily produce ice between 3 & 4 '. Will they be able to drill 8 holes through that kind of ice on one charge??

If you are talking about the new ones w/ built in battery , i'm not sure if the battery will hold up for thoise conditions , but with that much ice , they have a cable to hook up to your vehicle battery. I'm sure you could drill all the holes you desire.

I bought a new Jiffy Lectric Stealth a month ago and used it for the first time on Saturday. It cuts faster than my Jiffy model thirty does. I was only cutting thru 6" of ice tho. I plan on using it in my ice house because of the fumes given off by the gas auger.

I bought a jiffy elect .a couple of months back , used , the guy said he only used it twice. Looking forward to trying mine for the first time.

P.S.  it's not the newest style w/ battery mounted , box looks clean and manual with , so it wasn't hardly used

How is the battery life in the Cold weather?  I would be surprised if it lasted for a decent amount of time.  I could be wrong though.

The Jiffy Electric does not come with a battery. Motor draw is 20 amps at full load so a deep cycle battery should last at least 50 or so holes in 2 ft of ice. The OTHER brand name unit with the battery is good for about 15 holes max.
