the Jason Mitchell meatstick is a great perch rod, and thornebros power noodle is also good.

Frabill quicktip is a good choice as well

I would suggest the Jason Mitchell or Frabill Ice Hunter 24"UL, 26"L or 27"ML for perch.

Here is an idea that is a little different.  Go buy a nice fiberglass blank, eyelets and make one yourself.  I carved a couple handles from some cedar i had in the shop, drilled the holes and set the blanks.  Then super glue the eyelets on and once set come back and "tie" material on.  From there you can choose the reel of your choice.  I have a Diawa that I like but also have have a couple old school crank reels.

They have great action, look awesome, and seem even more special since I made them myself.  Perch are not that demanding so it is not tough to make and have the quality you want.  For less than $50 you can probably make a handful of them too.  I think I had about $15-20 total in mine.

Just a thought to enjoy the sport more and have something you can talk about when they are not biting.

Goodluck

I really like the brosdahl quick tip.  great for light bite but has a really nice backbone for slabbers.  I like last years version with the small handle, not this years locking handle.  You can still find them online and they are a lot more balanced IMO

Get a Bone Head custom. PM me if you are interested. They can be built to any action you want. My recent one for perch is a 28" light action with an extra fast tip. They also are alot cheaper than $50.

I personally like my HT Ice Blues rod.  You could own 3 of them and have change from your 50.

+4 for the St.Croix with spring bobber. I would go ML instead of the UL as I like the added backbone for the slobs.

Never could find an ice rod that had everything that I wanted on it. So About 30 years ago I started to build my own. These are more for function than appearance . Cold got me so bad I can't go fishing so next best thing I can talk about it. All rods were built with fly rod tips. Except the blue one I redid some HT micro ice blues. The original eyes were way to small for me. The green one passes for my heavy rod actually its an ultralight. I use it to jig my heavier stuff such as vibes , pimples etc.

These rods are way lighter that what most ice anglers like. But a 10 inch gill feels like a tarpon on one of these. They have maximized my fun.
