This is a pretty worthless thread but I haven't been on the ice yet this year and I will finally get to test out my Nils 8" hand auger.  I have only used power auger's til now so I am a bit apprehensive to say the least.

Way to go brother!  ping me if your school schedule allows time to get together on the hardwater
that nils will not let you down    The Mile, Antero, etc will require a little extra effort with the 18"+ thickness

Propane augers that I have seen people use freez up in negative weather.... Be safe ice this year is iffy in places

i hear people say that but mine has never froze up yet. just dont like how heavy it is

Well let me know if you have problems... I know when its working it starts first time which is awesome... But I am worried if I did get one it might freeze up on me and I couldn't fish.... It also might have been poor handling or operator error too...

jiffys are pretty good augers hard to break it besides of getting new blades
