13 fishing tear drop

It’s just another type of inline reel really. Just more like a bait caster style than a fly reel type.

I have one, it's essentially an inverted bait caster, but with a much smaller spool than your standard bait caster. I use mine on a pike rod.

13 oz. isn't that heavy...   It's only roughly double the weight...it's like two reels = smashed together.

I tried one but with the smaller spool, the line stays curled longer then I like.

The appearance of those little line curls are terrible.   However being a straight winding spool the curls do not affect the lure performance as much as compared to a spinning reel.  The curls are an S wave pattern so it counter balances.  On a spinning reel the curls remain a helical spiral so the drag through the water is much more detrimental and affects lure performance like as in giving it spin.
