This weekend??

This is my first year in Manitoba for the 'Ice up'. I moved out early this year during the ice, so I am hesitant to rush out onto Lake W or the Red.

Could any one tell me if there will likely be safe ice on the red Near Selkirk or on the big lake? Dying to wet a line, but do not want to die while wetting one.

yes, there will be safe ice... drive to the float base and have a look, but I'd wait until the middle of the month before starting to venture out. Some guys are reporting 5-8 inches, so give it a couple more weeks for the ice to firm up. usually mid december gets the ice more stable. for lake access, try warner road or chalet road. good luck!!
