Last weekend the lake was locked up from Valeport to around Regina Beach.

Heard from a guy at work there is a couple inches of ice at Little Arm, the rest of the lake is still open.

Blackstrap had 5 inches, last year LML seemed about 3 inches behind at the start. Maybe next week?

At this rate deif will be "early ice" at Christmas haha

Anyone know ice conditions around the Sarnia/WeeToo area? If reports are saying 10 to 12 inches in the Arlington area I'm hoping we can at least walk on further south on the lake. Any solid ice info would be much appreciated.

It was iced up all across triple T about a week ago. Fishing was slow but a hog hit around 5pm, 4 fish all day. 2 burbot 2 walleye. Good size though.

It was 6" to the first swell, 4" after it. I would imagine we can walk on at Sarnia, but maybe not to basin depth.

There was 9 inches at Midway a week ago should have grown thicker since then. There is a sketchy heave about 100 yards out but after that walking is clear.
There are rough patches where the ice had broken up and refroze.

Sorry Evan my reply has nothing to do with fishing but it might be a teachable moment.
Literally half of the people get this mixed up but weary ((weer-ee) means tired or exhausted. Wary (wair-ee) means watchful or cautious.
They are pronounced differently.
Sorry to all offended by this get out fishing and have a wonderful New Year.

9 1/4" at Sarnia on boxing day on every whole we drilled. Probably measured 12 ish holes, but only in an area..

There was lots of quads around on the ice. We had 3 big boys and 2 heavy sleds plus the shack on the front of quad and we were fine. Just take it slow. There's a few heaves out there so keep your eyes open. If you go all the way to the south tip there was a good size heave, pretty sure you can get around it close to shore..there was some wind and lots of traffic so it was moving a fair bit, but it got pretty warm. As said above be Warry....

Thanks guys! i managed to get out myself, i didn't make it to the island so I never seen those ridges, just the 4 or 5 north of Sarnia.. I stayed in the rock pile out to 30+ feet and seen the same ice thickness, with a noticeable change when you got about halfway across . I Didn't catch a fish, didn't seam like anyone else out there that day did either…thanks for the spelling correction btw…! Too funny

I know it's tough to do it on the 'net, but you are doing god's work in making those corrections. Like you say, it's become super common for people to think wary and weary are the same word.

FOUND, DISREGARD

LOST - BUCKET AND RODS AT LIPPS BEACH
Long shot in the dark, but did anyone pick up a white 5 gallon bucket with 4 rods in it at Lipp’s on Friday Dec. 29th?? They would have been on the shore close to the launch there. I was parked close to where the locals have a hockey net set up. Please message me with any info, cash reward to the person who helps me get my gear back. I can identify names and specs of each rod.

With this deep freeze setting in, I'm just curious what the ice conditions are like. Doesn't really matter what area of the lake, I'm just wondering if it's worth making a trip out this weekend from Moose Jaw, or would I be better off waiting until next weekend?

Sunday Jan 7 - Island View off the boat launch, ice was 13".

Fished in 25' of water, no fish on camera or sonar.

Was out yesterday near Arlington It was very windy so once we set up the tent we were locked in for the day. Ice was 20 inches .
Driving around in the Tahoe was not a problem, a mix of bare ice and some small drifts. We accessed at Canyon Beach one small heave but easy to find crossing points.
Ten Perch between the two of us so very slow My Buddy caught one big Whitefish and a few Tullibee. We did not stay for prime time Buddy had to go Golfing and it was looking pretty dismal anyway.

The access at Etters can be tricky as the heave not far from shore has raised up and if you don't have enough clearance could get you hung up.
Hopefully this will be remedied soon. A chain saw and some effort would take care of it in no time.
