You know what I want to see ???
« on: Dec 18, 2007, 03:27 PM »
Footage of an Aqua view or other underwater camera decoy with a big Pike or Laker trying to eat it. I think it would be hilarious. If I had one I'd jig the thing just to see if I could entice on to take it.

Its not my vid, its from another thread today. I just took the URL cause it fit so well with this topic. I love when the pike was completely vertical looking down at the jig. And of course when it tried to eat the camera!

I thought the vertical thing was cool too . I don't think I have ever seen one do that .
It's amazing how fast they can go from a complete stop to full throttle !

It is amazing how many times they miss the jigs.  Their aim is horrible.

i actually thought the same thing, my grandpa always told me that fish will hit something above them easier than they will hit anything below them. Mabye Pike are the exception, they have really good eyesight so that could be the difference.

Not trying to side track the thread but.....

I have a book on Pike and it says the complete oposite, their eyesight is horible especialy in low light conditions like over cast days.It stands to reason with me I have had exceptional Pike fishing on Bright sunny days.

Well i guess i was assuming that becasue I read a thing about tiger musky having great eyesight that pike must also, but that's wrong apparently. Oh well...

Their eyesight is only a small factor most fish sense motion and such with their lateral line and the pike, musky, and tiger musky all have a very long lateral line by design. They will therefore pick up on their prey from much farther away whether it is above, below or otherwise. They will rely on their eyesight when they get up close and personal.

Then again we are both assuming that someone else knows what its like to see through the eyes of a Pike or a Tiger Musky...
