Have always labeled mine. Same as a hard side shanty.

Good to see that some of the regs are now civil instead of criminal too.

1/2 a century on the hardwater, spoke to c.o.' s while standing next to set tipups & never heard of this reg. or received a warning. With the # of clowns on da ice , I've got an issue w/ my address being displayed.
Good idea Mike , I'll p/u another DNR sportscard for a 1.00 & label it like my treestand

I had a warning for it before.  I just stick address labels that ducks unlimited sent me in the mail on them with a bit of packing tape over that.   I can get a couple years out of it before they get too blurred from moisture.

Now that these volations are decriminalization and are now civil infractions publishable by a $150 fine. I don't think the dnr will be as lenient with anyone who has not complied.
Just looked at my tip ups to ensure all labels are still attached.

Regarding the topic of labeling tip ups.. What is the best way to label them? I use all black beaver dams.

I was thinking i'd use a white paint marker, but have a feeling that wouldn't last long. Unless i were to spray over it with some clear coat? Thanks!

i use black beaver dams and just use a old business card and write address and name then tape them on with clear packing tape.they last about 3 years.

I have so many tip-ups I think it would be a problem if all the names on them would be mine?
Having access to a laser engraver I make name plates for all my friends and family.
Not all I take fishing with me have their own gear.
I use a channel they slide into for easy changes.
I drill and pop rivet the channels on each one.
Fast and Easy, but better yet Legal.
This works great for weekend fishing trips when some need to be unthawed or worked on.

Would this apply to dead sticking poles set out in holders.

Yup

Well...then I've been illegal all these years. A rod in a holder, laying on the ice, across a bucket,  etc. must be labeled huh? Pretty much says that any rod not in your hand and/or unattended needs to be labeled.  :-\

I was told that by a co himself … he said theory is pretty much just like you said if it’s not in your hand how is he supposed to know who’s it is if there is a group of people . Maybe he was lying to me . Call yourself and ask them if you think I’m wrong but that’s what he told me

No. I believe and not disagreeing with you. Just stating that I've been wrong all these years. Never gave it much thought other than the tipups.

Yeah I even put my info on my jawjackers and deadstick holders. Not worth the hassle. I've never had them check them but I've prob been stopped by dnr on the ice more times then I've been checked for fly fishing

Here in New York when we had to label them, I just used the cheap address labels that would come in the mail and cover them with packing tape. Cheap and easy.

Most of mine were bought in the early 60's. I used the tap tags that you could get at that time. These tags were just a piece of thin aluminum which you took an ink pin and wrote our name and address on. There are about 1/2 wide and maybe 2 inches long. Been checked many times on some of the lakes south of Allegan. I used that 5 min epoxy glue to fasten them on
