Earliest season start.
« on: Nov 19, 2022, 04:37 PM »
I'm Jonesing. Hence the random posts. What's the earliest you folks have gotten out? I've never gone before Jan 1. Always Jan 1. Just a conversation starter. Go B's

I've been out before Thanksgiving a few times. The earliest was November 16. I don't remember what year that was but I do remember the date. This year I'm shooting for the 23rd. The first week of December has been my opening day for the last few years.

Early November would be a dream come true.  That would cut into truck trout time but I'd be ok catching through the ice!

My neighbor who is shall we say old remember ice skating on the lake on Thanksgiving, but times are different now and probably mid-December would be the earliest for large water bodies. Probably even later for ice that isn't iffy.

Yep like that....Up to around that time I could get on ice the weekend after Thanksgiving.  Last year I was on a place first week of December. This pic was the the 13th.

I'm a little concerned about this small pond. Gotta a lot of publicity last year and guys were using tip-ups getting a lot of deep hooks and the "releasing" fish. Some you could see blood. :(

I just walked the dog down to the cove. Not even a skim coat of ice yet. :-(
I'm just north of Sebago.
I think I've only had 1 year where I was on before 1/1.

My guess for the body of water which allowed you to be on ice on November 3 is .............. DURANT  ;)
