Spro Power Swivel #10 is what I always try to use, but will use #8 or #6 if that's all I can find.

Spro size 10 is what I use on a majority of my freshwater fishing.  Hard or soft water.  Walleye, steelhead, perch, etc.  I've never had one fail and you can get a 50 pack for around $12.
