Almost time
« on: Nov 12, 2022, 08:55 AM »
Got the minnow tank set up and first box of statewide minnows in, with these Temps should not be long for the ice to be forming and safe. Might have to get another box of minnows in and then have to start getting new seining and dealers license bought up for next year and get all the paperwork done and figured out. Hope to see everyone on the ice here in the next few weeks.

I'll probably get out for the first time this year on Sunday late afternoon/evening and try for some walleyes. It was 16 degrees below zero early this morning, so I'm sure a couple more inches of ice formed over the past 24 hours as there isn't too much snow on the ice. It will be below zero again tonight.

Guess I need to make another trip up to Deaver and try the little lake again amd see if I can get some eyes out if there. We only hit 0 for a low here so doubt boysen has much ice on it to be able to fish it any time soon. Might drive and see how much is forming around poison creek as the causeway had some ice but open water to at least the mouth of poison creek. Another year of wishing and lower Temps predicted then bam 40 degrees and windy around here.

What is the earliest you have ever been able to get out on the ice?

How thin of ice are you willing to go out on? This is all new to me. I see guys out on the south end of Boysen already but the north half of the lake has no ice at all. Is that safe? I figured as long as I'm closer to shore than them I would be fine right?

3 inches of ice , but like 4 better. Bought a float suit just in case, but know that the south end of boysen has 6 inches of ice right now. The earliest I have been is the week before Thanksgiving, a couple years ago could have went the last week of October when we had -22 weather for that week and one lake froze over, then the weather warmed up and the ice went away.
