Adding a line guide to an in-line reel.
« on: Oct 27, 2022, 09:10 AM »
I have an Eagle Claw in-line reel. This reel does not have a line guide close to the spool. I have had issues with line coming off the side of the spool and then getting wrapped around the screw on the side. I then have to remove the spool and unwrap my line from the knob shaft.

Has anyone added a line guide to help keep tehe line from falling off the side of the spool?

I was thnking about adding a flat spring bobber of something to the neck of the reel.

That is what I did to keep the line in the center of the spool. I made a loop in a piece of wire leader, for the line to go through.  And doubled the other end and JB Welded it to the onside of the reel above the spool.

just add a fly guide to the rod blank as close to the reel as possible

How much line are you spooling on? For panfish I rarely put more than 25 yds on an inline reel.

You could. Try taping a flat spring bobber to the cork handle in front of the spool. I may do this to mine.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.
