First snow
« on: Oct 24, 2022, 02:42 PM »
First snow this morning good thing I had the winter cover on the boat . Now I get to dream about Ice fishing until the lakes freeze up.
Old fishermen never die, they just smell that way.

I was just looking at my pictures of my first ice last year. It was on Nov 27 so we are a month away! I find it hard to imagine things will be frozen in a month but here's to hoping.

Last Year I drilled holes on Dellwood on Nov 17th there was only 4 to 5.5 inches. Who knows what this ice season will bring but I am hoping for some really cold weather in a couple of weeks.

Boat is officially away so bring on the ice. It was a great summer, and had amazing walleye fishing at strap. Caught a 25.5" Wally but where the heck do they go in winter though?

You get 1 hr in the morning and 1 hr in the evening. Other then that they get tight lipped. Best luck is on a shallow flat by a break line 8-12 feet.

That was my experience on the strap as well back in my university days.

Fresh foot of snow up here, firing up the tundra after work!!

just in from a rip on the sled trail.  snow so high it was coming up over the hood, the tundra loved it!

Great weather for snow machines but I was hoping for no white stuff untill the ice was hard safe and ready. Still it is pretty good ice making weather. wont be too long now 3 years ago I was already fishing Dellwood.

Another 8" or so yesterday, some of the small lakes around here were froze over so they'll likely be a mess.

-25 this pm here      lots of snow- I agree  those small lakes will be inconsistent for early ice.
