Elliot rods has a few more options this year with the Odyssey.Just ordered the Odyssey 40, this will be my 3rd Elliot rod...https://twobrothersinnovations.com/elliott-rods/ice-rods/
I received the Evolution 44" UL a few weeks ago. Think I'm gonna like it.
44 UL is a sweet rod.I got the 40 Odyssey today and its even nicer in person then I thought.
I got the Paragon and 44L last year. I’m needing something that handles my 5-6mm tungsten a little better than the 44L. Any opinions on which way to go? 44UL or 44 Noodle?
I think the 44UL would easily handle the 5-6mm jigs. The biggest I use is 4mm but mostly 3mm.When I was deciding between the Noodle and the UL, I contacted them with the questions I had. I would suggest you do that. They were a big help to me in my decision.
Well I emailed them last night and got a response this morning. They said the noodle is better for deeper water, more parabolic and UL is better for shallower water.
That is a very odd response considering that in deeper water a glass rod is less capable of delivering the proper jigging technique to quiver the jig. Furthermore it also has that loss of hook setting on point when especially gentle and precise hook setting is required on some of the softer bites. It is still scenario specific because the mid winter doldrums when the fish are barely inhaling lures does call for a noodle action while waiting for the fish kissing the lures. Looking for that 1/2" or so slow tip movement that a responsive graphite tip won't give.
couple new things from acme and 13 fishinghttps://www.cabelas.ca/product/159174/acme-mick-e-tungsten-jighttps://13fishing.com/ice-2022acme jig looks interesting.
What in the world is military-grade E glass?
Huh
For sure seeing the influx of lighter weight rod designs of all tennessee handles and titanium recoil wire ring guide frames. New player to me, Della Bay customs ice rods.Looks to be on par with similar price point ice rods.
Yup. One of the questions I asked as well. And because I rarely fish water over 20' feet deep, I opted for the UL.
Solutions for problems that don’t exist. 🤷
