Ice Conditions
« on: Mar 07, 2022, 09:48 AM »
Ok I'll ask the question. Who was out this weekend and how was the ice where you were? Obviously each lake is different and spud your way out and I don't care about the exact lake. TIA

Saturday had 16+" in Kalkaska County.  Did not go out on Sunday after the rain pooled up the ice.

8" of questionable ice in livingston county. Wonder if this snow will hurt or help the ice?

Down at the bottom of Michigan, I’ve got more bad ice than good. Lots of honey comb and standing water. Headed to the rivers

went out last night on a 70 acre lake with no streams going in or out. found 8" of ice 2 white and 6" clear.
landed 3- 13" perch and 7- 8" gills. cold weather today and tomorrow should keep OK ice for a few days .
By this time next week this ice season in southern MI will be over.
I'd rather be fishing than sleeping

My son old me last night that his power auger was abot 6 inches from the motor on one hole he made Sat on a lake in Kalkaska area. Biggest problem on some of these lakes around here is the shore ice is piled up so high making it hard to get on. HL by the west launch the big hotel there has it all the way up to there deck in front

Woke up this morning to open water. Ice is gone until next winter.
