Grilled Perch?
« on: Feb 26, 2022, 04:35 PM »
I have a bunch of bags of perch in the freezer, which will take me into summer.  I have one of those grill fry pans with all the holes in it, and am curious to try grilling perch fillets in the warm weather.

Anyone ever try it, or have any good recipes?

Looking for some good suggestions!

Definitely. In my opinion perch is one of the most versatile fish to cook. Poached fried grilled baked etc. It will flake apart so you may want to use parchment paper or a grilling tray. I like a nice garlic lemon dill marinade for a couple hours then grill them up.

Why wait for warmer weather? Winter grilling is the best!

I put my fillets in a ziplock bag with enough Wegmans lemon garlic marinade to cover for 30 mins.
Then grill on a disposable grill pan over charcoal.
They cook fast, maybe 2 minutes per side if fire is hot. Just let the edges get a little char.
Squeeze a little lemon juice on before serving.
Works for walleyes, perch, even bullheads.
So good!

Thanks for the suggestions! Can't wait to try them out once I dig my grill out of the shed.

As mentioned, either marinate them or oil and season 'em up...they can dry out a lot faster on a grill than in a pan.  ;)
